From 1994 the festival’s name is “Fényírók Fesztiválja – Another Connection”, which is well known in professional and international circles, but in Hungary, it is known as MEDIAWAVE festival after the name of the foundation. This name suggests a totally different content on an international level. From 2002 the organizers changed the subtitle into “International Film and Music Festival” that reflects the festival’s now dominating professional character in a much better way. The MEDIAWAVE Festival, as the largest event of the Foundation, became well known in Hungary and abroad as an international film contest where an international jury decides about the quality award. The open competition only excludes the mass-produced „blockbusters”. This year, as a new off-programme of the Are you FREE? Music Festival, the organizators have decided to screen a collection of the best music-related films of the MEDIAWAVE festival.
